What we do

Mohrbooks is the oldest literary agency in the German speaking territory. Since the 1930s it represents German language publishing rights on behalf of agencies and publishers world wide, mostly from English speaking countries. We specialize in subagenting or co-agenting translation rights and we offer three kinds of partnership to our clients.

Co-agenting: we work in close partnership with our international clients to represent their German language publishing rights. Most of our clients are publishers and literary agencies in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and Italy. We also represent New York University worldwide (except US) for the works of Erich Maria Remarque. We cherish long-term exclusive partnerships.

Consulting and back-office services: we are partnering with German literary agencies to offer our expertise and our back-office services so they can concentrate on growing their author lists and on developing their core business. We support our German partners in all aspects of agenting, including development, marketing, sales, administration, technology, royalty accounting and general management.

Author agency: apart from co-agenting we also represent our own list of German language writers and Estates for the domestic German market and world-wide. Unfortunately, we normally don't take on representation for individual non-German language writers.
